In Treatment of Bacterial infections : Aeroclav LB Syrup is a medicine given to children for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections. Aeroclav LB Syrup also treats bacterial pneumonia, which is a very common condition in children. This medicine inhibits the bacteria from multiplying, thereby arresting their growth. It is also given as an empirical therapy in conditions where the infection-causing bacteria is unknown and as a preventive (prophylactic) antibiotic therapy.It may be given alone or along with some other medicines. Your child may start to feel better within 2 to 3 days of regular dosing. For best results, finish the full course of the medicine without stopping abruptly as doing so may lead to ineffective treatment and worsen your child�s condition.In Treatment of Resistance Tuberculosis (TB)In multidrug-resistant (MDR) tuberculosis, the causative bacteria produce an enzyme called beta-lactamase. This enzyme breaks down the antibiotics and makes them ineffective. As a result, the bacteria become resistant to the antibiotic being used for treatment. Aeroclav LB Syrup comprises two active ingredients, Amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. While clavulanic acid stops the enzyme from rendering amoxycillin ineffective, amoxycillin works towards killing the tuberculosis-causing bacteria. How Aeroclav LB Syrup works Aeroclav LB Syrup is an antibiotic. It has three active agents, amoxycillin, clavulanic acid, and lactobacillus. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas, clavulanic acid serves the special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. While these two medicines treat your child�s infection, they may upset your child�s digestive system by killing healthy gut bacteria due to the prolonged intake of this medicine. The third agent, lactobacillus helps prevent side effects such as diarrhea by restoring the balance of healthy bacteria in your child�s gut.

Kidney

Aeroclav LB Syrup should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Aeroclav LB Syrup may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised.The dose needs to be reduced in neonates and infants due to incompletely developed renal function.

Liver

Aeroclav LB Syrup should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Aeroclav LB Syrup may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised.

Give the missed dose when you remember unless the doctor says otherwise. If it's nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed one. Never give two doses at once, and stick to the dosing plan your doctor provided.

Store in a cool and dry place, and keep the temperature below 30�C

Your child may have a bitter taste in the mouth after the intake of Aeroclav LB Syrup. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection. Never share your child�s medicine with anyone else even if they show similar symptoms. Never self-medicate at home. Always consult the doctor before giving any medicine to your child. Do not give Aeroclav LB Syrup to treat the common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses. Never save medicine for future illnesses. It cannot be said whether the same medicine will work on future infections. Stop Aeroclav LB Syrup immediately if your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulty. Report to the doctor without any delay.
