Kojic Acid Uses: Kojic acid is utilized in the treatment of hyperpigmentation and melasma.

How it Works

How Kojic Acid Works Kojic acid is an anti-pigmentation agent. It functions by inhibiting the production of melanin, the pigment responsible for skin color.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Kojic Acid include itching, dry skin, skin burns, skin peeling, and erythema (skin redness).

Expert Advice

  • Kojic Acid aids in lightening visible spots and marks.
  • It should always be used in conjunction with sun-avoidance measures, such as:
    • Using sunscreens
    • Wearing protective clothing
  • Avoid contact with eyes or mouth; if contact occurs, rinse with water immediately.
  • Do not apply to broken or infected areas of skin.
  • Discontinue use if you experience irritation or an allergic reaction, and consult your doctor.
  • If you notice any redness, rashes, irritation, or stinging sensation while using Kojic Acid, stop using it immediately and consult your doctor.
