Trabectedin is used in the treatment of soft tissue sarcoma.

How it Works

How Trabectedin works Trabectedin belongs to a class of drugs known as alkylating agents. It works by binding to the DNA in cells and causing damage. This process inhibits the growth and multiplication of cancer cells.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Trabectedin include headache, fatigue, vomiting, weakness, nausea, increased liver enzymes, low blood platelets, increased creatine phosphokinase (CPK) levels in the blood, decreased white blood cell count (neutrophils), decreased appetite, and constipation.

  • Trabectedin is administered as an intravenous infusion (IV infusion) under the supervision of a doctor.
  • Do not skip any doses and complete the course as recommended by your doctor.
  • Use an effective method of birth control to prevent pregnancy while taking this medication.
  • Inform your doctor if you notice any of the following symptoms:
    • Yellowing of the eyes or skin
    • Dark urine
    • Muscle pain
    • Skin rash
  • Your doctor may conduct regular blood tests to monitor your blood cell count, platelet count, and liver function.
