How Thalidomide works Thalidomide modulates the activity of the body's immune system and helps indirectly attack cancer cells. It also inhibits the growth of blood vessels in tumors.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Thalidomide include nausea, rash, breathlessness, dizziness, edema (swelling), decreased calcium levels in the blood, fatigue, muscle weakness, anxiety, confusion, decreased white blood cell count (neutrophils), constipation, tremors, sensory neuropathy, changes in body weight, decreased white blood cell count (lymphocytes), thromboembolism, muscle pain, anaphylactic reaction, headache, sleepiness, and decreased potassium levels in the blood.

  • Thalidomide should be taken on an empty stomach.
  • Try to take it at the same time every day.
  • Do not skip any doses and complete the course as prescribed by your doctor.
  • Use an effective method of birth control to avoid pregnancy while taking this medication.
  • Do not donate blood during or for 7 days after treatment with this medicine.
  • Your doctor may conduct regular blood tests to monitor your blood cell count and liver function.
