Frequently asked questions

Telbivudine is effective when taken at the prescribed dose and duration. Do not discontinue use even if you notice improvement, as stopping early may lead to a return or worsening of symptoms.
Telbivudine should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day on an empty stomach, at least 2 hours after a meal and 2 hours before the next meal. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day.
Telbivudine does not cure hepatitis B but may improve liver condition by reducing the amount of hepatitis B virus (HBV) in the body and limiting its ability to replicate.
Continue taking Telbivudine as directed by your doctor and do not stop without consulting them, as discontinuation may worsen your hepatitis.
Telbivudine is not recommended for HBV patients with HIV until they begin HIV treatment, as it may cause resistance to HIV medications. Testing for HIV is advised before starting Telbivudine in these patients.
If you forget a dose of Telbivudine, take it as soon as you remember. If it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and do not double up, as this may increase side effects.
Drug resistance occurs when a medication that was once effective becomes ineffective due to changes in the virus or bacteria. With Telbivudine, resistance is more likely to develop if the prescribed dose is not followed.
