How Tafamidis works Tafamidis binds to the transthyretin protein and prevents it from disintegrating. The disintegration of this protein leads to the formation of amyloid deposits in the heart and/or nerves.

  • Before taking Tafamidis, inform your doctor if you have liver problems.
  • Do not use this medication for any condition for which it was not prescribed.
  • Do not give this medicine to others, even if they have the same symptoms, as it may harm them.
  • Women should use birth control while taking Tafamidis and for one month after discontinuing treatment.
  • Stick to simple meals, avoid rich or spicy foods, and drink plenty of water while taking Tafamidis, especially if you experience diarrhea or stomach pain.
  • This medication may cause urinary infections; therefore, women are advised to maintain proper personal hygiene.
