How Tafamidis works Tafamidis binds to the transthyretin protein and prevents it from disintegrating. The disintegration of this protein leads to the formation of amyloid deposits in the heart and/or nerves.

Before taking Tafamidis, inform your doctor if you have liver problems.
Do not use this medication for any condition for which it was not prescribed.
Do not give this medicine to others, even if they have the same symptoms, as it may harm them.
Women should use birth control while taking Tafamidis and for one month after discontinuing treatment.
Stick to simple meals, avoid rich or spicy foods, and drink plenty of water while taking Tafamidis, especially if you experience diarrhea or stomach pain.
This medication may cause urinary infections; therefore, women are advised to maintain proper personal hygiene.
