How Sulbutiamine works Sulbutiamine is a centrally acting cholinergic medication. It functions by increasing the levels of acetylcholine, a chemical messenger in the brain. This mechanism helps to reduce damage in the brain.

It should be taken with a fat source, such as oil or milk.
Do not skip any doses and complete the full course of treatment, even if you feel better.
Inform your doctor if you experience problems sleeping and/or a reduced appetite after taking this medication.
