Pefloxacin is used in the treatment of bacterial infections. It is also indicated for infections of the urinary tract, female genital organs, skin and soft tissues, and the lungs, including pneumonia.

How Pefloxacin works Pefloxacin is an antibiotic that functions by inhibiting the action of a bacterial enzyme known as DNA-gyrase. This action prevents bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, ultimately leading to their death.
