- It works immediately, with each dose providing relief for up to 12 hours.
- The correct way to use the nasal spray:
- Shake the bottle before using the medication.
- Clean your nose thoroughly before administration.
- Insert the bottle tip into one nostril while closing the other nostril.
- Direct the spray towards the sides of your nostril, avoiding the cartilage that divides the two sides of your nose.
- Breathe out gently through your mouth and repeat the process for the other nostril.
- Avoid deep breathing, as it may cause the medication to travel back to the throat, reducing its effectiveness.
- Do not share the bottle with anyone else to prevent the spread of germs.
- Oxymetazoline can worsen nasal congestion if used for more than 3 or 4 consecutive days (known as rebound congestion).
