Ornidazole should be taken exactly as prescribed, usually once or twice daily for a short course. Swallow the tablet whole with water, preferably with or after food, to reduce stomach upset. Avoid alcohol completely while taking it and for at least 1–3 days after stopping, as it can cause nausea, vomiting, flushing, or palpitations. • Stay Hydrated If You Have Diarrhoea: Drink plenty of clean fluids (oral rehydration solution, water, or coconut water) if you have diarrhoea, unless your doctor restricts your fluid intake, to prevent dehydration.

• Review Your Other Medicines: Tell your doctor about all other medicines you take, especially other antibiotics, blood thinners, or drugs that affect the nervous system, as they may interact with this nitroimidazole‑type medicine.

• Stop and Seek Help for Severe Side Effects: If you develop severe or bloody diarrhoea, rash, swelling of face or tongue, difficulty breathing, tingling or burning in hands/feet, fits, or confusion, stop taking Ornidazole and seek urgent medical help.

• Use a Simple Dose Reminder: If you often forget doses, use a pill organiser or phone reminders so you do not accidentally miss or double a dose, which can worsen side effects.
