Norfloxacin is used in the treatment of bacterial infections. It is effective for infections of the urinary tract, gastrointestinal tract, tonsils, sinuses, nose, throat, female genital organs, skin and soft tissues, and lungs (pneumonia).

How Norfloxacin works Norfloxacin is an antibiotic that functions by inhibiting the activity of a bacterial enzyme known as DNA-gyrase. This action prevents bacterial cells from dividing and repairing themselves, ultimately leading to their death.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Norfloxacin include headache, dizziness, nausea, abdominal cramps, increased aspartate aminotransferase, increased alanine aminotransferase, decreased white blood cell count, low blood platelets, protein in urine, increased alkaline phosphatase levels in blood, and local site reactions.
