How Nicorandil works Nicorandil is a vasodilator that reduces the workload of the heart. Consequently, the heart muscle requires less blood and oxygen, which decreases the frequency and severity of angina attacks.

  • You must continue to take Nicorandil as advised, usually for an extended period.
  • Nicorandil may cause headaches. Drink plenty of water and take a suitable painkiller. Inform your doctor if the headache does not resolve.
