Nepafenac is used to relieve post-operative eye pain and inflammation.
How it Works
How Nepafenac works Nepafenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by blocking the release of specific chemical messengers responsible for pain and inflammation, including redness and swelling.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Nepafenac include eye discomfort, ocular hyperemia, eye itching, transient blurred vision, and stickiness.
Expert Advice
- Your doctor has prescribed Nepafenac for the relief of post-operative eye pain and inflammation (redness and swelling).
- Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute immediately after instilling the drop.
- A course of treatment usually lasts for 4 to 6 weeks.
- Wait at least 5-10 minutes before administering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution.
- A stinging sensation may occur for 1-2 minutes; notify your doctor if it persists longer.
- Inform your doctor if you are taking blood thinners or have bleeding problems.
- Use the eye drops within 4 weeks of opening the bottle.
