Natalizumab

Uses

Natalizumab is used in the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS).

How it Works

How Natalizumab works Certain immune cells, known as T cells, attack the protective sheath (myelin) surrounding the nerves, leading to disabling effects in multiple sclerosis. Natalizumab functions by binding to T cells and preventing their entry into the brain and spinal cord. This action slows disease progression and reduces the frequency of attacks in multiple sclerosis.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Natalizumab include headache, urinary tract infection, lung infection, pain in extremities, stomach pain, vaginal inflammation, tiredness, joint pain, depression, diarrhea, rash, and throat infection.
