Frequently asked questions

If prescribed a single lowest dose, take Moxonidine in the morning. For divided doses, take one in the morning and the other in the evening.
Take Moxonidine exactly as prescribed by your doctor, swallowing it whole with enough water. It can be taken before, during, or after meals, as food does not affect its efficacy.
Moxonidine may cause mild sleep disturbances, along with headache, dizziness, vertigo, and drowsiness. Consult your doctor if these side effects persist or are concerning.
Avoid Moxonidine if you are allergic to it, have heart failure, a resting heart rate below 50 beats per minute, or suffer from abnormal heart rhythms such as sick-sinus syndrome or AV block.
Moxonidine is an antihypertensive medication used to lower blood pressure in patients with hypertension.
You may take atenolol with Moxonidine, but inform your doctor. If you plan to stop Moxonidine, discontinue atenolol a few days prior, as stopping both simultaneously may cause increased blood pressure.
Overdose symptoms include headache, drowsiness, low blood pressure, dizziness, unusual weakness, slow heart rate, dry mouth, nausea, fatigue, and abdominal pain. Seek immediate medical attention if overdose is suspected.
Do not discontinue Moxonidine without consulting your doctor, even if your blood pressure is controlled, as sudden cessation may lead to serious blood pressure changes. Your doctor will gradually reduce the dose if necessary.
