How it Works

How Meropenem and Sulbactam work Meropenem and Sulbactam is a combination of two medicines: Meropenem and Sulbactam. Meropenem is an antibiotic that works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering essential for the survival of bacteria in the human body. Sulbactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that blocks the action of enzymes produced by bacteria to inactivate Meropenem. The addition of Sulbactam reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Meropenem against bacteria.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Meropenem and Sulbactam include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, and rash.

  • Meropenem + Sulbactam is administered as an injection under the supervision of a doctor only.
  • Do not skip any doses and complete the full course of treatment, even if you feel better.
  • This medication may cause dizziness.
  • Avoid driving or engaging in activities that require mental focus until you know how the medication affects you.
  • It is advisable to stay hydrated and drink plenty of water to mitigate side effects.
  • Avoid consuming alcohol while taking this medication, as it can exacerbate dizziness.
  • Discontinue Meropenem + Sulbactam and inform your doctor immediately if you experience:
    • Rash
    • Itchy skin
    • Swelling of the face and mouth
    • Difficulty in breathing
