Lactic Acid

Uses

Lactic acid is used in the treatment of keratoses and psoriasis.

How it Works

Lactic acid removes the top layer of dead skin cells and helps improve skin texture, reduce dark spots, smooth fine lines, and cleanse pores.

Side Effects

Common side effects of lactic acid include tingling at the application site, a burning sensation, erythema (skin redness), and irritation.

Expert Advice

  • Avoid contact with eyes, lips, and mucous membranes.
  • Take precautions to avoid swallowing lactic acid.
  • Avoid application to sensitive, inflamed, or irritated skin, as mild stinging, burning, or peeling may occur.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience irritation or any other symptoms of allergy.
  • Avoid direct exposure to sunlight or use protective clothing, as lactic acid may increase sensitivity to the sun.
  • Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
  • Do not use if allergic to lactic acid or any of its ingredients.

Frequently asked questions

Before applying Lactic Acid, clean and dry the affected area. Gently massage it into the skin, avoiding contact with eyes and mouth. If contact occurs, rinse with water and consult a doctor if irritation persists.
Discontinue Lactic Acid and seek medical advice if you experience severe local irritation, including intense redness, dryness, itching, or a burning sensation.
Improvement may be seen after 4-6 weeks, but full benefits can take longer. If your condition does not improve after one month or worsens, consult your doctor.
Apply Lactic Acid only to skin, avoiding eyes, eyelids, lips, mouth, and nostrils. If contact occurs, rinse with water. Avoid using on broken skin or open wounds, and be cautious on sensitive areas. Lactic Acid increases sun sensitivity; use sunscreen and protective clothing, and avoid sunbeds. Keep it away from hair and colored fabrics to prevent bleaching.
Start with a once-daily application in the evening, with potential increases to twice daily as advised by your doctor.
