Common side effects of Idebenone include nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the throat and nasal passages), cough, diarrhea, and back pain.

- It should be taken with food and at the same time every day.
- It may cause your urine to become reddish-brown; this change in color is harmless.
- Inform your doctor if this change bothers you.
- Your doctor may regularly monitor your eyesight, blood counts, and liver function while you are on treatment with this medicine.
- Inform your doctor if you have liver disease, kidney disease, or if you notice flu or cold symptoms.
