Uses
Ofloxacin, Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, Sodium Phosphate, and Phenyl Mercuric Nitrate are used in the treatment of bacterial eye and ear infections.
How it Works
How Ofloxacin, Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, Sodium Phosphate, and Phenyl Mercuric Nitrate work Ofloxacin, Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, Sodium Phosphate, and Phenyl Mercuric Nitrate is a combination of three medicines: Ofloxacin, Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, and Sodium Phosphate. Ofloxacin kills bacteria by preventing them from reproducing and repairing themselves. Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose is a lubricant similar to natural tears, providing temporary relief from burning and discomfort due to dryness in the eye. Sodium Phosphate stabilizes the pH of these drops.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Ofloxacin, Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, Sodium Phosphate, and Phenyl Mercuric Nitrate include eye irritation and eye discomfort.

- Consult your doctor if:
- Your symptoms do not begin to improve within two days of starting treatment.
- Your symptoms worsen during treatment.
- You experience another eye/ear infection.
- If using Ofloxacin + Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose + Sodium Phosphate + Phenyl Mercuric Nitrate for the eye:
- Wait at least 5-10 minutes before administering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution.
- Do not wear contact lenses while using this medication.
- It may cause short-term blurring of vision when first used; exercise caution before driving or operating machinery.
