Hydroquinone, Octinoxate, and Oxybenzone are used in the treatment of hyperpigmentation and melasma.
How Hydroquinone, Octinoxate, and Oxybenzone work Hydroquinone, Octinoxate, and Oxybenzone is a combination of three medications. Hydroquinone reduces the formation of melanin (pigment) in the skin, lightening dark patches. Octinoxate functions by absorbing UV rays, thereby stopping or at least slowing down the destruction of healthy skin cells. It also lowers the risk of skin cancer and other skin reactions caused by sunburn. Oxybenzone absorbs ultraviolet radiation and prevents it from penetrating the deeper layers of the skin.
Common side effects of Hydroquinone, Octinoxate, and Oxybenzone include application site reactions such as burning, irritation, itching, and redness.
