Metoprolol Succinate and Hydrochlorothiazide are used in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure).

How it Works

How Metoprolol Succinate and Hydrochlorothiazide Work Metoprolol Succinate and Hydrochlorothiazide is a combination of two blood pressure-lowering medications: Metoprolol Succinate and Hydrochlorothiazide. Metoprolol Succinate is a beta blocker that specifically targets the heart to reduce heart rate and enhance its efficiency in pumping blood throughout the body. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that lowers blood pressure by eliminating excess water and certain electrolytes from the body. Over time, it also relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Metoprolol Succinate and Hydrochlorothiazide include fatigue and nasopharyngitis, which is the inflammation of the throat and nasal passages.

Expert Advice

It is a combination of two blood pressure-lowering medications used for the treatment of high blood pressure.
It can be taken with or without food.
Do not stop taking Metoprolol Succinate + Hydrochlorothiazide suddenly, as it can cause your blood pressure to rise abruptly, thereby increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke.
It may cause dizziness; if this occurs, get up slowly when transitioning from a sitting or lying position.
It can mask symptoms of low blood sugar if you're diabetic; monitor your blood sugar levels regularly.
Metoprolol Succinate + Hydrochlorothiazide may cause dehydration; drink plenty of fluids.
Inform your doctor if you develop extreme thirst, muscle weakness, or a very dry mouth.
