Homatropine
Uses
Homatropine is used for eye examinations and the treatment of uveitis. It is particularly beneficial for children.
How it Works
Homatropine is used to dilate or enlarge the pupil of the eye, allowing the doctor to examine the back of the eyeball. Additionally, it may be used to alleviate pain in certain eye conditions.
Expert Advice
- It is also used to relieve eye inflammation (redness and swelling) and infection.
- Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute, immediately after instilling the drop.
- Wait for at least 5-10 minutes before administering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution.
- A stinging sensation may occur for 1-2 minutes; notify your doctor if it persists for longer.
- Ensure to use within 4 weeks of opening the bottle.
