How it Works
Gatifloxacin and Prednisolone work together as a combination of two medications. Gatifloxacin is an antibiotic that inhibits the activity of a bacterial enzyme called DNA-gyrase, preventing bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, ultimately leading to their death. Prednisolone is a steroid that blocks the production of specific chemical messengers in the body that cause inflammation, including redness and swelling, as well as allergic reactions. This combination effectively treats bacterial eye infections.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Gatifloxacin and Prednisolone include corneal inflammation, conjunctival irritation, increased lacrimation, and papillary conjunctivitis.

- Gatifloxacin + Prednisolone must be used according to the dose and duration recommended by your doctor.
- If you wear soft contact lenses, remove them before administering these eye drops and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting your lenses.
- Wait at least 5-10 minutes before administering the next medication in the same eye to prevent dilution.
- Gatifloxacin + Prednisolone may cause blurred vision.
- Do not drive or operate machinery until you understand how the medication affects you.
- Avoid contact with your nose or mouth.
- If you accidentally get the drop in these areas, rinse them off with water.
