Fondaparinux Uses Fondaparinux is used to prevent deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. It prevents blood clot formation that may occur due to orthopedic surgeries, such as hip or knee surgery, abdominal surgery, or restricted movement resulting from an acute illness.

How it Works

How Fondaparinux works Fondaparinux is an anticoagulant that inhibits the action of a clotting factor known as Xa in the blood. This mechanism prevents the formation of unwanted blood clots, or thrombosis, in the blood vessels.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Fondaparinux include bleeding, anemia (low number of red blood cells), dizziness, low blood platelets, edema (swelling), and decreased potassium levels in the blood.
