How Fluocinolone acetonide and Povidone Iodine work: Fluocinolone acetonide and Povidone Iodine is a combination of two medications used to treat skin infections. Fluocinolone acetonide is a steroid that inhibits the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) responsible for causing redness, swelling, and itching in the skin. Povidone Iodine is an antiseptic applied to infected skin or skin at risk of infection. It gradually releases iodine, which kills or prevents the growth of infectious microorganisms.
