Ertapenem is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by preventing them from forming the protective covering (cell wall) necessary for their survival.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Ertapenem include headache, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, rash, dizziness, insomnia (difficulty sleeping), breathlessness, infusion site reactions, edema (swelling), abdominal pain, disorientation (alteration of mental status), vaginal inflammation, and arrhythmia (irregular heartbeats).
