Dorzolamide is used in the treatment of glaucoma.

How it Works

How Dorzolamide works Dorzolamide is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor. It functions by reducing the production of aqueous humor (the fluid in the eye), thereby lowering elevated intraocular pressure.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Dorzolamide include a bitter taste, burning sensation, eyelid irritation, stinging sensation, eye itching, and watery eyes.

Expert Advice

Dorzolamide helps lower elevated intraocular pressure and reduces the risk of vision loss.
For optimal results, instill one drop in the affected eye(s) 2-3 times daily.
Apply gentle pressure on the inner corner of the eye (close to the nose) for approximately 1 minute immediately after administering the drop. This technique minimizes the risk of side effects.
Avoid touching the tip of the dropper to any surface or your eye to prevent contamination of the eye drops.
Remove contact lenses prior to using Dorzolamide, and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them.
When using multiple eye medications, wait at least 5-15 minutes before administering the next medication in the same eye to prevent dilution of the active ingredients.
