Metronidazole is an antibiotic that stops the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms that cause diarrhea. Dicyclomine is an anticholinergic that relaxes the muscles in the stomach and intestines, stopping sudden muscle contractions (spasms). This action relieves cramps, pain, bloating, and discomfort. Loperamide is an opioid agonist that decreases intestinal contractions, making stools more solid and less frequent.
Common side effects of Metronidazole, Dicyclomine, and Loperamide include nausea, headache, dryness in the mouth, metallic taste, constipation, dizziness, blurred vision, sleepiness, weakness, and nervousness.
