How Mephenesin, Diclofenac, Lidocaine, Methyl Salicylate, Linseed Oil, and Menthol work Mephenesin, Diclofenac, Lidocaine, Methyl Salicylate, Linseed Oil, and Menthol is a combination of six medicines that relieve pain. Mephenesin is a muscle relaxant that acts on the centers in the brain and spinal cord to alleviate muscle stiffness or spasms and improve pain and movement. Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that blocks the release of certain chemical messengers in the brain that cause pain and inflammation, including redness and swelling. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that works by blocking pain signals from the nerves to the brain, further reducing the sensation of pain. Methyl Salicylate and Menthol are topical analgesics that first cool the skin and then warm it up. This cooling and warming action interferes with the transmission of pain signals through the nerves. Linseed Oil reduces swelling due to its anti-inflammatory properties.
