How Gentamicin and Dexamethasone work Gentamicin and Dexamethasone is a combination of two medicines: Gentamicin and Dexamethasone. Gentamicin is an antibiotic that inhibits bacterial growth by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to perform vital functions. Dexamethasone is a steroid medication that blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) responsible for causing redness, swelling, and itching.

Common side effects of Gentamicin and Dexamethasone include eye irritation and eye discomfort.

- Gentamicin + Dexamethasone is indicated for the treatment of bacterial skin infections.
- Apply a thin film to the affected areas two to three times daily, or as directed by your doctor.
- Do not use it more frequently or for a longer duration than prescribed by your doctor.
- Avoid application to broken skin and prevent contact with eyes, nose, or mouth.
- Do not cover the treated area with airtight dressings, such as bandages, unless instructed by a doctor, as this may increase the risk of side effects.
- Possible side effects include temporary burning, itching, or redness at the application site, which is typically mild.
