How Desloratadine and Montelukast work Desloratadine and Montelukast is a combination of two medicines: Desloratadine and Montelukast, which treats sneezing and runny nose caused by allergies. Desloratadine is an antiallergic that blocks the action of a chemical messenger (histamine) responsible for runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. Montelukast is a leukotriene antagonist that works by blocking the action of another chemical messenger (leukotriene). This reduces inflammation in the airways and nose and improves symptoms.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Desloratadine and Montelukast include diarrhea, dryness of the mouth, fatigue, headache, muscle pain, sleepiness, pain during menstruation, upper respiratory tract infection, fever, pharyngitis, cough, abdominal pain, otitis media (ear infection), and influenza.
