How Daptomycin Works Daptomycin is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by disrupting the bacterial cell membrane.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Daptomycin include rash, headache, dizziness, abnormal liver function tests, urinary tract infection, diarrhea, increased creatine phosphokinase (CPK) levels in the blood, decreased blood pressure, and breathlessness.

- Daptomycin is typically administered in a hospital setting for the treatment of serious bacterial infections affecting the blood, heart, skin, and soft tissues.
- It is delivered via a drip into a vein (intravenous infusion).
- Your doctor may monitor your muscle health before starting treatment and regularly thereafter.
- Diarrhea may occur as a side effect but should resolve once your treatment course is completed.
- Inform your doctor if diarrhea persists or if you notice blood in your stools.
- Discontinue Daptomycin and notify your doctor immediately if you experience any unusual tingling, burning, or numbness in the hands or feet, as well as tenderness, weakness, or cramps.
- Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or breastfeeding.
