Dapagliflozin and Linagliptin are used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus.

How it Works

How Dapagliflozin and Linagliptin work Dapagliflozin and Linagliptin is a combination of two antidiabetic medications. Dapagliflozin lowers blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes by excreting excess sugar from the body through urine. Linagliptin increases the levels of certain natural substances that help lower blood sugar when it is elevated.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Dapagliflozin and Linagliptin include vaginal yeast infection, nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the throat and nasal passages), and urinary tract infection.

Expert Advice

  • Dapagliflozin + Linagliptin should be taken at the same time every day to help you remember to take it.
  • It may cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) when used with other antidiabetic medications, alcohol, or if you delay or miss a meal.
  • Always carry some sugary food or fruit juice with you in case you experience hypoglycemia symptoms, such as:
    • Cold sweats
    • Cool, pale skin
    • Tremors
    • Anxiety
  • Be cautious while driving or operating machinery until you understand how Dapagliflozin + Linagliptin affects you.
  • Inform your doctor if you notice joint pain or develop symptoms such as:
    • Stomach pain
