How Clindamycin and Tretinoin work Clindamycin and Tretinoin is a combination of two medicines that treat pimples (acne). Clindamycin is an antibiotic that penetrates the skin to kill acne-causing bacteria. Tretinoin is a form of vitamin A that reduces oil production in the skin, replenishes the skin, and helps keep your pores open.

Common side effects of Clindamycin and Tretinoin include dryness, erythema (skin redness), scaling, burning sensation, skin exfoliation, nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the throat and nasal passages), cough, and sinus inflammation.
