How Faropenem and Clavulanic Acid Work Faropenem and Clavulanic Acid is a combination of two medicines: Faropenem and Clavulanic Acid. Faropenem is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by preventing them from forming the protective covering (cell wall) necessary for their survival. Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Faropenem against bacteria.

Common side effects of Faropenem and Clavulanic Acid include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and rash.

- Faropenem + Clavulanic Acid is used for the treatment of bacterial infections.
- Stick to simple meals and avoid rich or spicy food.
- Drink plenty of water while taking Faropenem + Clavulanic Acid.
- Do not take antacids 2 hours before or after taking Faropenem + Clavulanic Acid.
- Diarrhea may occur as a side effect but should resolve once your course is complete.
- Inform your doctor if diarrhea persists or if you notice blood in your stools.
- If you are taking any contraceptive 'pill' concurrently with this antibiotic, its effectiveness may be reduced if you experience vomiting lasting more than 24 hours.
- In such cases, consult your doctor for additional contraceptive measures.
- Stop taking Faropenem + Clavulanic Acid and inform your doctor immediately if you develop:
- An itchy rash
- Swelling of the face, throat, or tongue
- Breathing difficulties
