Chlorpropamide and Phenformin are used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus.
How Chlorpropamide and Phenformin work Chlorpropamide and Phenformin is a combination of two anti-diabetic medications: Chlorpropamide and Phenformin. Chlorpropamide increases the amount of insulin released by the pancreas to lower blood glucose levels. Phenformin reduces glucose production in the liver, delays glucose absorption from the intestines, and enhances the body's sensitivity to insulin. Together, they effectively lower blood glucose levels.
Common side effects of Chlorpropamide and Phenformin include hypoglycemia (low blood glucose levels), changes in taste, stomach pain, diarrhea, headache, upper respiratory tract infection, and lactic acidosis.
