How Chlorpheniramine Maleate, Ketorolac, and Phenylephrine Work Chlorpheniramine Maleate, Ketorolac, and Phenylephrine is a combination of three medications that relieve eye discomfort caused by allergies. Chlorpheniramine Maleate is an antihistamine that blocks the action of certain chemical messengers responsible for red, itchy, and teary eyes. Ketorolac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by inhibiting the release of specific chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation, including redness and swelling in the eye. Phenylephrine is a decongestant that narrows the blood vessels in the eye to further alleviate inflammation.
