How Ofloxacin, Fluocinolone acetonide, Clotrimazole, and Chlorocresol work Ofloxacin, Fluocinolone acetonide, Clotrimazole, and Chlorocresol is a combination of four medications that treat skin infections. Ofloxacin is an antibiotic that prevents bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, thereby killing the bacteria. Fluocinolone acetonide is a steroid that blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) responsible for making the skin red, swollen, and itchy. Clotrimazole is an antifungal that inhibits the growth of fungi on the skin by preventing them from forming their own protective covering. Chlorocresol possesses disinfectant, antiseptic, and bactericidal properties, killing bacteria and preventing microbial growth. It is also used in various pharmaceutical products to extend shelf life.
