How Chloramphenicol and Prednisolone Work Chloramphenicol and Prednisolone is a combination of two medicines: Chloramphenicol and Prednisolone. Chloramphenicol is an antibiotic that stops bacterial growth by inhibiting the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to perform vital functions. Prednisolone is a steroid medicine that blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) responsible for causing redness, swelling, and itching following an allergy or infection.

Common side effects of Chloramphenicol and Prednisolone include ear discomfort, itching, and pain.

- Chloramphenicol + Prednisolone must be used according to the dose and duration recommended by your doctor.
- Do not touch the tip to any surface or to your ear to prevent contamination.
- Consult your doctor if symptoms do not improve within two days of starting treatment, if they worsen during treatment, or if you experience another ear infection.
- Avoid contact with your eyes, nose, or mouth.
- If the drops accidentally get into these areas, rinse them off with water.
- Discontinue use of the medicine and inform your doctor if you notice ear irritation, a burning sensation, or any allergic reaction.
