Cefepime is used in the treatment of bacterial infections.
How it Works
How Cefepime works Cefepime is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by preventing them from forming the protective covering (cell wall) necessary for their survival.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Cefepime include diarrhea, increased white blood cell count (eosinophils), injection site phlebitis, skin rash, increased liver enzymes, positive Coombs test, increased prothrombin time, decreased phosphate level in the blood, and increased partial thromboplastin time (PTT).

- Your doctor has prescribed Cefepime to treat your infection and alleviate your symptoms.
- Do not skip any doses and complete the full course of treatment, even if you start to feel better.
- Stopping the medication early may cause the infection to return and make it more difficult to treat.
- Discontinue Cefepime and inform your doctor immediately if you experience:
- A rash
- Itchy skin
- Swelling of the face and mouth
- Difficulty in breathing
- Diarrhea may occur as a side effect but should resolve once your course is complete.
- Inform your doctor if diarrhea persists or if you notice blood in your stools.
- Avoid consuming alcohol while taking Cefepime, as it may lead to increased side effects.
