How it Works

How Buprenorphine and Naloxone Work Buprenorphine and naloxone is a combination of two medications used to treat opioid addiction. Buprenorphine is an opioid partial agonist that alleviates withdrawal symptoms in patients who discontinue opioid use by producing effects similar to those of opioids. Naloxone is an opioid antagonist that blocks opioid receptors to prevent withdrawal side effects.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Buprenorphine and Naloxone include headache, sweating, drug withdrawal syndrome, nausea, vomiting, constipation, numbness in the mouth, tongue pain, back pain, lightheadedness, arrhythmia (irregular heartbeats), blurred vision, sleep disturbances, difficulty concentrating, dizziness, fainting, and sleepiness.
