Timolol and Brimonidine are used in the treatment of ocular hypertension and glaucoma.
How it Works
How Timolol and Brimonidine work Timolol and Brimonidine is a combination of two medicines: Timolol and Brimonidine. Timolol is a beta blocker, while Brimonidine is a sympathomimetic. They work by decreasing the production of aqueous humor (the fluid in the eye), thereby lowering elevated eye pressure.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Timolol and Brimonidine include allergic conjunctivitis, follicular conjunctivitis, conjunctival hyperemia, eye itching, burning eyes, and stinging in the eyes.
Expert Advice
- Timolol + Brimonidine is a combination of two medications that lowers intraocular pressure and reduces the risk of vision loss.
- Apply pressure to the corner of the eye (near the nose) for about 1 minute immediately after instilling the drop.
- If you wear soft contact lenses, remove them before applying these eye drops and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting your lenses.
- Do not touch the tip of the dropper to any surface or to your eye to prevent contamination of the eye drops.
- Wait at least 5-10 minutes before administering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution.
- Short-term blurring of vision may occur when first using this medication; use caution before driving or operating machinery.
- Temporary burning or itching sensations in the eye may occur; inform your doctor if these symptoms persist.
- Ensure to use the medication within 4 weeks of opening the bottle.
