How Betaxolol Works Betaxolol is a beta blocker that decreases the production of aqueous humor (the fluid in the eye), thereby lowering elevated intraocular pressure.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Betaxolol include eye discomfort, blurred vision, headache, and increased lacrimation.
Expert Advice
- Betaxolol helps lower elevated intraocular pressure and reduces the risk of vision loss.
- Notify your doctor if you have lung or heart diseases, as Betaxolol may exacerbate these conditions.
- Apply pressure to the corner of the eye (near the nose) for approximately 1 minute immediately after instilling the drop.
- Wait at least 5-10 minutes before administering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution.
- A stinging sensation may occur for 1-2 minutes; notify your doctor if it persists longer.
- Ensure to use the medication within 4 weeks of opening the bottle.
