How Betamethasone and Gentamicin work Betamethasone and Gentamicin is a combination of two medicines: Betamethasone and Gentamicin. Betamethasone is a steroid that blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that cause the affected area to become red, swollen, and itchy. Gentamicin is an antibiotic that stops bacterial growth by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to perform vital functions.

Common side effects of Betamethasone and Gentamicin include thinning of the skin, skin maceration, and secondary infections.

- Betamethasone + Gentamicin is used for the treatment of bacterial skin infections.
- It should be applied to the affected areas as a thin film, two or three times daily, or as advised by your doctor.
- Do not use it more often or for longer than instructed by your doctor.
- Avoid applying it to broken skin and do not let it come into contact with your eyes, nose, or mouth.
- Do not cover the treated area with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor, as this may increase the risk of side effects.
- It may cause temporary burning, itching, or redness at the application site; this is usually mild.
- Consult your doctor if you experience a more severe reaction.
- Inform your doctor if your skin problem has not improved after seven days of treatment.
