How Betamethasone and Clotrimazole work Betamethasone and Clotrimazole is a combination of two medicines that treat skin infections. Betamethasone is a steroid that blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) responsible for making the skin red, swollen, and itchy. Clotrimazole is an antifungal that inhibits the growth of fungi on the skin by preventing them from forming their own protective covering.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Betamethasone and Clotrimazole include paresthesia (tingling or pricking sensation), rash, edema (swelling), and secondary infections.

- You have been prescribed Betamethasone + Clotrimazole for the treatment of fungal skin infections.
- This medication is for external use on skin only.
- Do not apply it to your eyes, mouth, or vagina.
- If you accidentally get it in these areas, rinse immediately with cold water.
- Do not cover the treated area with airtight dressings, such as bandages, unless directed by a doctor, as this may increase the risk of side effects.
- If you notice increased irritation or signs of infection in the treated area, stop using Betamethasone + Clotrimazole and consult your doctor.
- Do not use this medicine more frequently or for a longer duration than advised by your doctor.
- Inform your doctor if the treated skin area does not improve after 2 weeks of treatment.
