Betamethasone is a steroid medicine that blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) responsible for making the skin red, swollen, and itchy. Neomycin is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required for vital bacterial functions.
