How Benzalkonium Chloride and Gatifloxacin Work Benzalkonium Chloride and Gatifloxacin is a combination of two medicines: Benzalkonium Chloride and Gatifloxacin, which is used to treat bacterial eye infections. Benzalkonium Chloride acts as a preservative by preventing the growth of harmful microorganisms, thereby prolonging the shelf life of medicines. Gatifloxacin is an antibiotic that works by inhibiting the action of a bacterial enzyme called DNA-gyrase. This action prevents bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, ultimately leading to their death.

Common side effects of Benzalkonium Chloride and Gatifloxacin include eye irritation, taste changes, and eye pain.
