How it Works
How Baricitinib works Baricitinib is a Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor that blocks the activity of selective JAK1 and JAK2 enzymes. This interference affects the JAK-STAT signaling pathway, which is a series of protein-cell interactions involved in processes such as immunity, cell division, cell death, and tumor formation.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Baricitinib include upper respiratory tract infection, nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the throat and nasal passages), urinary tract infection, bronchitis (inflammation of the airways), and headache.

- Baricitinib is used alone or in combination with methotrexate for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis that has not improved with other anti-rheumatic drugs.
- It may take 3 to 6 months to experience the maximum effect of this medication.
- Continue taking it as prescribed.

- Liver function
- Kidney function
- Blood counts
- Cholesterol levels
- Baricitinib can make it somewhat harder for individuals to fight off infections.

- Muscle aches
- Your doctor may conduct a TB (tuberculosis) skin test and a chest X-ray before starting treatment with this medication.
- Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or breastfeeding.
