Levofloxacin and Azithromycin are a combination of two medications. Levofloxacin works by preventing bacteria from reproducing and repairing themselves. Azithromycin inhibits the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to perform vital functions, thereby stopping bacterial growth. Together, these medications effectively treat your infection.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Levofloxacin and Azithromycin include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, headache, dizziness, and insomnia (difficulty sleeping).

  • Levofloxacin + Azithromycin should be taken with or without food, but at the same time every day.
  • Do not skip any doses and complete the full course of treatment, even if you feel better.
  • Discontinue Levofloxacin + Azithromycin and inform your doctor immediately if you experience:
    • Rash
    • Itchy skin
    • Swelling of the face and mouth
    • Difficulty in breathing
  • Diarrhea may occur as a side effect but should resolve once your course is complete.
  • Inform your doctor if diarrhea persists or if you notice blood in your stools.
