How Atropine and Tetracycline Work Atropine and Tetracycline is a combination of two medicines: Atropine and Tetracycline. Atropine is an anticholinergic medication that works by dilating the pupil of the eye and relaxing the muscles within the eye. Tetracycline is an antibiotic that inhibits bacterial growth by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to perform vital functions.

Common side effects of Atropine and Tetracycline include itching, irritation, stinging sensation, blurred vision, eye redness, and dryness in the mouth.

  • Do not skip any doses and complete the full course of treatment, even if you feel better.
  • Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (near the nose) for about 1 minute immediately after instilling the drop.
  • If you wear soft contact lenses, remove them before applying these eye drops and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting your lenses.
  • Wait for at least 5-10 minutes before administering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution.
